VITA NATURAL DURAN DURAN series
Variable duration, Single-channel videos, Digital (HD & Full HD), transferred on H264, Color, 2022-2024
Originally conceived for a live experimental music performance, the series has evolved over time, maintaining the same format while expanding the themes explored, such as obsession with health, physical activity, and pornography. This process culminated in the presentation of two videos at the Galata Museo del Mare and the MAIIIM Lab, both in Genoa. The works offer a critical yet playful perspective on contemporary society, using fragmented, improvised phrases that lack explicit meaning.
"The series Vita Natural Duran Duran by Jean Sadao ironically explores the themes of life and death in modern society. The videos Mo.Mo. Morte Moderna address the contemporary obsession with fitness and healthy living as attempts to delay bodily decay, revealing the contradictions within these practices. Through the provocative title and irregular phrases, Sadao invites reflection on the paradox of a culture that, while trying to 'defeat' death, faces its inevitability, leading to a deeper cognitive experience."
